Craft from the Past: DIY Photo Canvas

This craft from the past project was super simple and inexpensive to make. I love taking photos of animals and I wanted to print out my photos and display them in my apartment. Rather than putting my photos in frames, I wanted to place them on a canvas.

I bought a pack of 10 canvases that was supposed to be about $20, but I got them for $10 with a coupon from Michaels and I also bought some 5×7 canvases. Like I said, this was very simple to make. First, print your photos. Then, take a canvas and paint it black or whatever color you would prefer. When the paint is dry, slap some Mod Podge on the canvas and apply your photo on top and then slap some more Mod Podge on top of the photo as well.

When your photo canvas is dry, find a spot on your wall to show it off!

Materials: Canvases, photos, Mod Podge (matte or gloss), black paint and paint brush/foam brush (for the Mod Podge)

Suggestions and Tips

  • Be careful with placing the photo on top of the canvas and make sure the corners of the photo meet with the corners of the canvas, and then smooth out the photo.
